Okay, quick update:
Went to the RE today for my 1st u/s and mock transfer at their office. OMG!!! I cannot even believe how awful my old RE's office was. They sucked so badly - I can't even find words sucky enough to express how much. Anyway, my new office is right down the street from work, nice!, and my appointment was at 3:45.
I arrived at 3:40 expecting to wait at least 20-40 minutes before being taken into the room. Not so. The receptionist (super friendly and motherly) had me pay the copay first, so I could leave quickly when the probing and scraping was completed. How thoughtful! Within 2 minutes, I'm not exaggerating, the nurse called me back. Okay, so I'll be waiting in half my birthday suit with goosebumps while an u/s technician updates herself on my case outside the door. Not so. I was no sooner on the table when the DOCTOR knocked on the door. Yes, the DOCTOR! He was also super friendly and quite talented with the speculum and catheter, thank God! I was out of the office by 3:55 - no joke. It went so smoothly, that I'm actually looking forward to my u/s next Monday. Seriously.
Did I tell you that they have the best magazines too? I don't think I did, so I'll divulge a little. They have tons of great gossip mags and they even have Cosmo! My old RE's office offered 3 choices. Travelers something or other - yeah 'cause all us IF ladies have the time and $$$ to travel right now. Golf Digest - really? Really? REALLY? And my favorite, Conceive - is this a sick joke or what? Like, if I could fucking 'conceive' I wouldn't be sitting in your goddamn office right now. I mean really, they might as well have had a magazine that was called, Relax and It'll Happen.
I would have preferred to read magazines with titles like, Failure, Why Your Life Sucks, or Sex Doesn't Make Babies! Embryologists Do. At least they'd have articles I could relate to...
Back to the positive - my new office also has a huge flat screen tv. I know it's not necessary, but c'mon. Find me an infertile girl anywhere who wouldn't appreciate a little General Hospital prior to being poked with the magical wand. I bet you can't.
Yay for today! IVF # 2.5, here I come...

That is awesome! I am so glad you have a great RE with GREAT magazines! I am so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you like your new RE! It sounds like a great place to get treatment. You can so judge a place by its reading material and furniture.
ReplyDeleteMy RE stocks infertility books from the 1970s and the furniture also matches. I am starting to wonder if he has done any further training, since the 1970s? I hope so!
That sounds like a utopia!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat more could a girl need? :) The only bad thing is that if they call you back so quickly, you don't have time to enjoy the amenities. But I'd say that's an okay trade off.
ReplyDeleteErica, I think in the past you told me you were in NJ.....now not sure if you remember my post about how I <3 my new RE....and if it wasn't for the magazines, I would think we are going to the same one, but alas, mine doesn't have the mags....oh well. glad we are both happy!
ReplyDeleteI think I love your RE! Seriously, there is more than one way to have a good bedside manner. I'm so glad that you're being treated well.
ReplyDelete(Thanks for your support)
your magazine lines made me laugh out loud. so true, so true.
ReplyDeleteThe little things really do make a difference with our RE! Almost time to start stims! Next week for you right? (I think you are a week behind me and I start Thurs.) Looking forward to sharing our journies ..
ReplyDeleteBTW, I was having trouble posting on your site from home but it seems to work from my work computer!? Just wanted to say "thanks" for your awesome comments on my site!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to an US? It can't be. My old RE had bad magazines too. They were all magazines about being a high powered working woman, so I could feel bad about my lack of baby and neglecting my career at the same time.
ReplyDelete"poked with the magical wand"
ReplyDeleteha ha ha ha ha!
ha ha. :) so glad that you have a decent office and doc now. welcome to how it's supposed to be!!
ReplyDeletebtw, my office has tons of sports illustrated and men's journal, too. i can only expect that this is to keep them occupied after they do their part or while they are waiting after visits, etc :)
You're on your way!!!! I'm excited for you. And your RE and office sounds wonderful. :)
ReplyDeletebtw, I don't know if you saw the other comments in response to your question, but BD= Baby Dance. I in no way endorse this acronym. I just use it :) Honestly I think it's one of the worst, but I just can't bring myself to write "s.ex" on my blog for fear of gross people who are googling that...so I figure if an IFer of TTC googles something they would say BD.
Yeah on a good RE! Wishing you the best.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I tagged you in my blog!
