So what I forgot to mention last night was that I was treated for a bladder infection/UTI last week. Nothing major - pretty mild, in fact I had no idea I had one until my monthly urine test proved otherwise. Well, it looks like one of two things:
1. A new UTI has begun
or
2. The infection did not respond to the antibiotic I was prescribed - apparently there is a small percentage of UTI's that require a more specific medication approach.
So, after seeing more pink in the toilet late last night, I called the doctor on-call who happened to be in the middle of a C-section. I spoke at length to the labor and delivery nurse (who was super sweet) and figured I'd hear back from my doctor if there was a problem. To my surprise, I heard from her anyway, just to check in and tell me that she wasn't concerned and to tell me we'd figure it out in the morning. The call came in after midnight. Did I mention that I really like this doctor? She is funny and sensitive. She's fantastic! Okay, I'm rambling...the point: I have to wait 3-5 days for the culture results at which point we will know the specific antibiotic needed. Today she checked my cervix - still tightly closed, looked for blood in the vag area - all clear, and checked the heartbeats - still as strong as ever. We actually heard them swimming around on the doppler, so I know they're active. She keeps telling me that the babies are growing better than normal which, on the one hand, makes me feel terrific, and on the other, makes me wonder if she's politely telling me I'm getting huge. Either way - I don't really care. I'm totally driven to bring these two home from the get-go and I will do whatever needs to be done to accomplish that.
I also think I felt some movement. Two nights ago, I felt a pretty sizeable "pop" on Baby A's side. Last night and an hour ago, I felt a little "pop" on Baby B's side. Oh yeah, and Baby B must be turned with his/her butt out, because my left side is noticeably more elevated than my right side. Looks pretty funny.
One week until my 20 week anatomy scan...everything about TTC and pregnancy really is a waiting game. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't so damned impatient.
