Freaked Out

I'm freaking out - a little more than usual. Here's the quick backstory:

I woke up this morning and felt pretty normal. Went downstairs and cooked breakfast for me and DH. Halfway through frying the bacon, I started feeling super crampy. Now, according to my doctor, cramps are bad, stretching is fine. Well, all of my stretching to date has felt like menstrual cramps, so what the fuck? This next part is TMI but whatever. I ended up going to the bathroom twice - it wasn't pleasant. I figured that was what was causing the cramping and went back to bed for another 2 hours. I spent the remainder of today on the couch feeling bloated everywhere in my stomach with gas. Gross, I know, but that's what it felt like. Anyway, I felt a little better by 4:30, got up and showered and then started cooking dinner. All was fine. I just went in to pee and when I wiped, I swear I saw a super slight tinge of pink. (Yes, even when pregnant, I still look at every single wad of toilet paper...just to check) I called in my DH and asked him to look. I can't even believe the shit I'll ask him to do these days. He thought it looked like very concentrated urine. So I tried not to panic, got up and turned to flush. And then I saw pinkish/orangish urine. DH came back in and I saw the split second look of panic on his face. Enough to know he saw it too. Just peed again - nothing strange.

What do I do? I'm debating on whether to call the on-call doctor or just wait until morning. I've had no spotting or anything at all throughout this pregnancy, so this is freaking me out. Fuck it. I'm calling.

***UPDATE: Was told to get off my feet for the rest of the night and drink lots of fluids. If I see anything weird again, I'm to call the on-call doctor at the hospital. No matter what, they scheduled me for a prenatal appointment check at 11:45 tomorrow morning. How am I supposed to sleep?***

  1. Bladder infections and UTI's are really common in pregnancy. It sounds like that is what it could be - which means all is ok with the babies.

    Fingers crossed.

  2. I am certain all is well (although I have nothing to go on with this). I bet you were just having some major uterine adjustment and things are starting to get tight in there.

Hugs and lots of happy thoughts coming your way!

  3. I hope everything turns out fine. I know there is a stomach bug going around (coast to coast, because I'm on one and my sister's on the other, and we both got it) so that is a possibility too. Not that I'm wishing stomach bugs on you... lol. But... you know.

Anyway. Enough rambling. Thinking of you!!!

  6. I'm glad you called and that you have an appointment early tomorrow. That will put your mind at ease. I'm thinking that everyone is right...that it is a UTI...it doesn't seem like enough to be related to the babies.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow!!!

  7. :( i hate stuff like this that has to freak us out, you know? i'm glad you called. the docs EXPECT to be called. seriously.

my general routine (if anything ever happens) is to try to stay calm, drink at least a liter of fluid, get off of my feet, and see what happens. i swear that's what they tell me to do every time.

keep us posted. thinking lots about you xoxo

  10. Erica, I'm NO expert, but I drank and drank and drank (I really think it was more than a gallon a day) from the moment I got up to till I went to bed. It's hard...but that water does wonders for all of you!!!:)It warded off contractions (not that that is what you're having) and helped prevent UTI's.
    Hang in there:)
