News on the Homefront

As if DH and I don't have enough on our plates, we've decided to put an offer in on a house!

The backstory is this: there are 2 towns that we have agreed upon (one is the town he grew up in; the other is a town in between all of our loved ones - about 15 minutes from each set of friends and parents AND my cousin, who is like a second sister, lives there with her family) The house is in town #2 - which makes me totally psyched! I always wanted to live in a small town with great neighbors and parks. This town has it all! We've been passively looking for a house that fits our standards in towns 1 & 2 for over a year. Not much comes up often, as no one wants to move once they move in - I can't blame them!

Anyway, this house was up in January for $70K more than the current asking price, which put it out of our comfort zone of spending. But now - it's right where we want it. And it has a beautiful Victorian wrap around porch and an amazing backyard with an inground pool!!!! Bonus for the teacher. :) I'm not posting a picture of it until I know more about the owner's response to our offer, but I'm really excited!

Although I love my house now, I don't love the town. Plus, when I stop to think about it, there's been a lot of heartache in this house. I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but the fact that I conceived is such an ENORMOUS feat for us. I'm thinking it's time to put the past behind me and start anew.

Am I crazy for considering a move in the next couple of months? Do any of you "fill your plate" to keep you from focusing too much on any one thing in particular?

  1. Congratulations! I hope that your offer is accepted! I don't think you're crazy for considering a move in the next couple of months. You'll be able to get your baby's nursery ready in your brand new home! My only advice is to take it easy. Moving requires packing and lifting and you may be apt to over-do it. So I would try to relax and let others (DH?) do more of the work. And if you're like almost every other pregnant woman, you'll be very tired in your first trimester and so you might find a move difficult because of that. But you'll be able to handle it! Good luck. :-)

  2. I think that's awesome. We did something similar when we got married- we closed on our house a week before our wedding and moved in the week after! It's hectic, but it all worked out well. :)

  8. Keeping busy is the only way to get through stuff, but sometimes I forget it. Small town living is great, unfortunately I married a city boy, so I think I'm stuck. The house sounds awesome. I hope it all works out.

  9. I hope your offer is accepted! I like to stay busy - very busy. It has been hard with how depressed I have felt but I am trying to get back into things.

Don't feel bad about missing my last cycle - it was the shortest chemical pregnancy ever - it was crushing to my heart to see the two lines and watch the second one disappear in two days...

  10. I hope you get the house and may you two fill it with many beautiful memories. Our new house has a pool and we just love it...perfect for the teacher who gets summers off! :)

I loved the pack n play you picked for your SIL. I picked that one first but dh liked the red one. :)

  11. OH I'll be soooooo jealous of your pool! :) But I hope you get it! I live in a small town, and I love it! It's like Mayberry, literally. The only bad thing is that I can't go to Wal-mart without seeing someone from high school, college, or one of my students and their parents. So much for running to Wally-World without make-up on, in pj's and a ball cap. THAT part I wish was different. But I love the parades that shut down the town, and we have a festival to celebrate our little town every May. It's nice!!

  13. Wow, that house and town sound like a dream! I would jump on it if I were you since you said opportunities to move into this town come up often. And maybe a welcome distraction will help get you through the first tri?1?

  14. Good luck with the house!! We are in process of buying a house as well. Nothing like a project or goal to distract us!! Hope all goes well.

  15. Best of luck getting the house. It sounds AMAZING! I definitely think you can handle a move right now. Maybe just make sure all your friends and fam help out and you don't lift anything and you should be fine. you can be the director/organizer. How fun.
    I'm glad your doing good!

  16. Funny story for you...

At work I have two flat screen monitors for my computer. They're really big. Which is nice, but also lets anyone see what you are doing if they walk by you. So, I go to check your blog a few minutes ago and internet explorer flips out and all the sudden I get about 100 copies of your blog plastered over two huge screens. A co-working walks by and sees 'LEARNING TO ACCEPT MY INFERTILITY' all over my monitors and looked at me like I was a crazy person, lol.

  18. Better to move now than trying to do it with a little one.

We are about to start finishing our basement. I am actually welcoming the upcoming distraction. It give me something to think about other than the state of my uterus.

  20. Oohhhh, good luck on the offer! I always load up my plate with a million things, just part of my personality. I'm sure it will be a wonderful change; probably better now than with an infant!!!

  22. How exciting, it sounds like a beautiful house and perfect to raise a family! To answer your question, yes, I am doing acupuncture once/week. I started during the suppression month of my 1st IVF. I love it too although I'm starting to feel like I have very little control over whether this works or not.

  23. I think its "meant to be"! Seriously all good things are coming your way. I hope they accept your offer. Sorry I missed your 2nd beta. I am so excited for you. (wait did i?) My bday was Sunday and I have been so overwhelmed with the adoption paperwork. I can't wait to follow your journey! Keep smiling girl! Any recent scores? I am such desperate need of a brown purse...I was toting around my MJ bag (its black) and I realized I need to set it aside and let it rest. Plus I tend to not wear as much black in the summer.
